STATION-Berlin is one of the most extraordinary locations in Europe. History

The history of STATION-Berlin begins in the month in which the great German writer Thomas Mann was born. On June 17, 1875, the Dresden railroad station was opened on its site, the starting and finishing point of the new Berlin – Dresden – Berlin railroad line, which was 12 kilometers shorter than the old connection. Trains ran on it to Dresden and onward to Vienna and Prague.

Under Kaiser Wilhelm II, the site was rededicated in 1907 and from then on served as a postal station, supplying Berlin with parcels from all over the world and many other goods for the next 90 years. The station became particularly important during the division of Germany, as one of the most important lifelines connecting West Berlin with the rest of Germany ended here. Even today, numerous details remind us of STATION-Berlin’s eventful past. Whether it’s the large gates through which steam locomotives once passed, the recently renovated station roof of Hall 7 or markings on the walls, doors and floors – they all bear witness to one of Germany’s most important hubs for goods and parcels.
